Small Stories (“the app”) is a reading app for young children, made to be used together with a parent. It is published by Ulstein Media. This policy explains what the app does with information. The short version: it collects nothing about you or your child.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no in-app purchases. We do not collect, store or receive names, email addresses, ages, photos, voice recordings or any other personal information from the app — from children or from adults.
What is stored on the device
To remember how your family likes to read, the app keeps a few settings on the device itself. They never leave it:
- Reading preferences — language, subtitles, volume, whether to wait for narration, and similar settings.
- Selected child ages (2–6), chosen in the parent area, used only to suggest suitable stories.
- Favorites and reading progress — which books you have marked and where you left off.
- Downloaded books — the illustrations and narration of books you have opened, so they can be read offline.
How the app uses the internet
The only thing the app does online is download the illustrations and narration for the books you open, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), from our content server at www.ulsteinmedia.no. These requests carry no account, no device identifier and no information about your child.
Like any web server, ours keeps standard technical logs of requests — such as the IP address and the time of the request — for security and operation. We do not use them to identify or follow anyone.
Permissions
The app asks for no device permissions. It does not use the microphone, camera, location, contacts or photo library.
Third-party services
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store, whose own privacy policy applies to that. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
The narration is produced in advance with the help of AI voice tools, outside the app. The app itself does not send anything to any AI service.
Children’s privacy
Small Stories is designed for children aged 2 to 6, used together with a parent. It collects no personal information from children. The settings, and the only links that lead out of the app, are in a parent area protected by a parental gate.
Deleting your data
Everything the app keeps is on your device. You can remove downloaded books, or reset all settings, favorites and progress, in the parent area. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you or your child, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. You are always welcome to contact us with questions.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the App Store.
